There are many good examples of innovative and effective labour market initiatives taking place across New Zealand, however, until now there has been no easy way to get an overall view of these initiatives or to learn and build on what has already been achieved.
The site provides easy access to in-depth information on the initiatives and strategies carried out by economic development agencies in different regions. It also provides useful background on how the initiatives were started and will tell you about the opportunities, barriers, and constraints encountered by different agencies along the way.
The website is part of a joint partnership project between the Department of Labour (DoL) and the Economic Development Association of New Zealand (EDANZ).
The technical element of the system is owned by the DoL which also has responsibility for the ongoing operational management and facilitation. The design and function of the database is based on recommendations obtained from economic development agencies during a series of regional workshops.
All documents are submitted by participating agencies who retain ownership and editing rights for the information inserted.
The establishment of the LMDA database is just the first phase of an ongoing project between the DoL and EDANZ. Once users have had the opportunity to become familiar with its functions and systems, we will actively gather feedback to continuously improve the website including additional functions to make the system more useful and user friendly.
